Since I work from home, I don’t have to put my make up on but when I do, it’s always a challenge what with the humid weather. I’m not a big fan of foundation or anything heavy or cakey to put on my face, so when I heard about BB cream a couple of years ago, I decided to give it a try. I was at Watson’s and saw the L’Oreal Lucent Magique BB Cream. It was okay, although a little too light on my skin and did not give the coverage I needed. There were also some bright specks that I couldn’t understand, almost like shimmer. It ended up on my shelf for about two years, hardly used.
My recent frequent Facetime convos with my sister in Michigan made me think about make up again. I went through all my makeup and threw out the ones that I thought were over a year old. I ended up with almost nothing.
Our recent trip to Hong Kong gave me a good opportunity to replenish my make up stock, and I was on the hunt for a good BB cream. My sister uses the Bobbi Brown one and I was about to purchase one for myself when I saw in one of the Sasa shops a brand that they label their best-selling BB cream – the Dr. G Hydra Intensive Blemish Balm. It’s made in Korea by a team of dermatologists. Curiously, they only had one shade. It was on sale for HK$ 276.80 (about Php 1,600) so I decided to give it a try.
So far, I am very impressed. By applying only half a pea size to my face and more where I have dark spots (I don’t use concealer), I find that it has very good coverage. I use only my fingertips to apply without even putting on any moisturizer prior. It’s not at all cakey and my face looks naturally smooth without making it too white. I’ve been using it for nearly two weeks now and the weather has been really nice so I’m not sure yet how it will hold up in the summer. I’ll post an update on this then.
I’ve read very good reviews about this product online, although for some it appears grayish on their face. I think this cream works best on fair Asian skin (my face is a little pale). The 60ml tube is probably going to last me a long time since I won’t be using it often. I wonder if they carry this brand in the Face Shop.
