Philosophy in Megamall is closing!

I was over the moon when I learned that Philosophy had opened its flagship store in Megamall, and I wrote about it here. So I was really bummed when I received a text message yesterday that it’s closing the same one it had opened just two years ago. It had been really difficult to buy their stuff prior to them coming to Pinas. Even Beauty Bar did not carry the items I wanted.

A few weeks before their announcement I had to travel all the way to their kiosk at Greenbelt 5 to buy because the store in Megamall was out of stock. And then just last weekend, we noticed that the kiosk was no longer there!

The good news is that they will continue to consign with Beauty Bar and sell online via Sephora.ph (I will post about this later) as well. At least I can see that my fave facial wash is in stock. I love Philosophy. Too bad they don’t have a strong local following.

S3 Eyebrow Stranding

If  you read my post about how sparse my eyebrows are, you’d understand how this is probably one of the things that makes me really insecure. I didn’t really mind having to take a few minutes drawing my brows on before going out or receiving guests at home, but it was really embarrassing coming out of the water during a recent grand family reunion at the beach. I couldn’t look at myself in the pictures.

As if by some cosmic power, I saw this huge billboard of PrettyLooks’ coming from the airport on our way back from the reunion. PrettyLooks is an aesthetic centre specializing in eyebrow restructuring. Their before and after photos looked pretty impressive. Continue reading S3 Eyebrow Stranding

Unboxing the Personal Microderm

PMD-Tool-Classic-seal-510x510It was by accident that I chanced upon the Personal Microderm. I never have time to go out for a facial anymore so I was searching the Philosophy website for microderm abrasion treatments that I can do at home. Not sure exactly how I saw the ad for Personal Microderm but there it was.

After reading through their site and combing Google for reviews on the product, I was hooked. I immediately placed an order, albeit nervous about the customs tax that I was sure would be exorbitant.

The checkout process was smooth and I used a promo code from a blogger that gave me 20% off. Aside from adding some blue discs which I am sure would be difficult to buy here in the PI, I also paid for shipping at $35. A receipt for my order was sent via email just a couple of minutes after I paid.  Continue reading Unboxing the Personal Microderm

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

My sister has been raving about the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer so when she sent me a tube just the other week, I was ecstatic! Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer

I didn’t realize that the primer would come in a neutral shade. I thought it would be either translucent or creamy white. It glides on like a concealer. Spread the primer on the upper eyelid, from the lashes up to below the eyebrow. Because I have sparse eyebrows, I decided to put some on my brows before drawing on it with my Shu Uemura Eyebrow Pencil Hard Formula Acorn 9.

My sister was right. Not only did the eyeshadow stay on for hours, but even my Shu Uemura Ultimate Natural Mascara and eyebrows lasted longer too!

My First Week on Zo Medical

I had to stop using products that I bought from Philosophy because I noticed that the acne on my forehead was not going away. I had never had a struggle with acne before and for some reason my forehead is oilier now so this has really been a concern for me. Adult acne is a bitch.

I decided to finally see a proper dermatologist to help me with my adult acne problem and freckles that seem to get darker when I spend a few hours under the sun. My husband insisted that I go to a Belo clinic just to experience what all the fuss was about (LOL!).

Their Megamall branch is the closest our place so that’s where I went. Doc Carlo made an assessment of my skin condition based on my answers on their questionnaire and his quick examination of my face. His solution to my concern is the use of Zo Medical and optional Revlite sessions to I guess hasten the results. Continue reading My First Week on Zo Medical

Human Heart Nature Delivery

I was pleasantly surprised to receive a LBC package just now from the Human Heart Nature delivery service when I placed my order just yesterday. The products were tightly and packed and sealed in a brown box and were wrapped in HHN paper inside to keep them secure.

It has been a challenge trying to find their products at the stores near my place and they would usually have the conditioner and not the shampoo or vice versa. So it was just great when I found out that they now ship right to my doorstep. And so quick to arrive too! I didn’t waste time to share the good news with my friends and family, especially because they also ship to the US. Their customer service is great as well. I placed the order in the late morning and a few hours later, I received a personal email from their agent letting me know that they ran out of the Mandarin Citrus scent for conditioner and can replace it with Lush Vanilla or just send my original order for me with no extra shipping charge when it becomes available. Talk about service! I didn’t mind getting the Lush Vanilla so I opted for that instead. Continue reading Human Heart Nature Delivery

Bobbi Brown Cosmetics

Still reeling from the makeup convos I had with my sister over Facetime, I had vowed to find myself a complete eye palette that I can use for day and night. I had taken a recent liking to Bobbi Brown cosmetics, and had bought myself the following before Valentine’s Day:

  1. Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream (Eye) Shadow in Bone
  2. Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder in Golden Light

I like that I only need my finger to apply the eye shadow and it instantly lights up my eyes when I apply it all over my eyelid up to the area below my eyebrows. It instantly illuminates the eye area.

The bronzing powder eliminates the use of blush for me and it highlights parts of my face while creates shadows where I slightly dust off with the powder using my kabuki brush. Very clever! Continue reading Bobbi Brown Cosmetics

Philosophy at the SM Megamall Fashion Hall

Philosophy

My sister told me about the Philosophy Help Me Retinol Cream in one of our Facetime convos, and when I did some research last week, I discovered that only the Beauty Bar carries the brand in the Philippines. I thought about ordering online but the nightmare of having to claim them at Phil Post stopped me. Philosophy is a US brand.

Then as if by some twist of fate, I learned that Philosophy is opening its own shop in the new SM Megamall Fashion Hall that opened last January 27. Someone up there loves me! 😀

I waited until the next day and dragged my brother to drive me to the new wing. We parked at Mega A Building so the access to the wing was easy, and the store was at the second floor. I was just too excited to see what else they were selling. Continue reading Philosophy at the SM Megamall Fashion Hall

Dr. G Hydra Intensive Blemish Balm (BB Cream)

Since I work from home, I don’t have to put my make up on but when I do, it’s always a challenge what with the humid weather. I’m not a big fan of foundation or anything heavy or cakey to put on my face, so when I heard about BB cream a couple of years ago, I decided to give it a try. I was at Watson’s and saw the L’Oreal Lucent Magique BB Cream. It was okay, although a little too light on my skin and did not give the coverage I needed. There were also some bright specks that I couldn’t understand, almost like shimmer. It ended up on my shelf for about two years, hardly used.

My recent frequent Facetime convos with my sister in Michigan made me think about make up again. I went through all my makeup and threw out the ones that I thought were over a year old. I ended up with almost nothing. Continue reading Dr. G Hydra Intensive Blemish Balm (BB Cream)
